What each part protects
Crash bars take part of the impact in a fall and protect the tank, engine and bodywork. An engine guard, or bash plate, shields the underside of the engine and the parts beneath it from stones and knocks on rough roads. A headlight guard keeps gravel thrown up by other vehicles off the headlight lens, while hand guards protect your hands and levers from wind, branches and impacts in a fall.
Protection makes sense on tarmac too
You don’t have to ride off-road to need protection. Many falls on heavy motorcycles happen at low speed: in a car park, while manoeuvring or when stopping on uneven ground. A heavy adventure bike that tips over, even at a standstill, can scratch its tank, crack a panel or bend a lever. Crash bars and hand guards reduce the risk of expensive repairs after incidents like these.
Parts made for your model
Protection bolts to mounting points on the frame, and these differ between models and model years. That is why we choose parts made specifically for your motorcycle and check compatibility before fitting. If you are also planning auxiliary lights or luggage, we take them into account from the start: on many adventure bikes the lights mount on the crash bars, and panniers need room at the sides.
How to get started
Tell us your bike’s model and year, which protection you want and how you use the motorcycle. We come back with a recommendation, a timeline and a transparent cost. Fitting takes place at the Adventure Lab MD workshop, Strada Calea Orheiului 135/A, Chișinău, Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 18:00, and on Saturdays by appointment.
