What HEX ezCAN does, in short
Modern BMW motorcycles use a data bus, called CAN, through which the switches, lights and on-board control units communicate. HEX ezCAN reads the signals on this bus and turns accessories on or off according to what the bike is doing: for example, the auxiliary lights come on with the ignition or at your command from the handlebar switches. That way the accessories integrate with the motorcycle as if they had been fitted at the factory.
What you can control with ezCAN
We most often use HEX ezCAN for auxiliary lights: switching them on and off and dimming them from the original controls. The module has several outputs, so other accessories can share the same installation, such as an extra horn, a power socket or a charger. How each output behaves is set during configuration, according to the equipment fitted to your bike.
Which motorcycles it fits
HEX ezCAN is designed for BMW motorcycles with a CAN bus, such as the GS family. Exact compatibility depends on the model and year, so we check it against your bike’s details before installation. If you ride another make, we offer a classic solution with a relay and a separate switch, as part of our moto electronics service.
Configuration and later changes
After installation we configure the module for the equipment on your bike and show you how to use the controls. HEX ezCAN settings can be changed later too: if you add new lights or other accessories, come back to the Adventure Lab MD workshop at Calea Orheiului 135/A and we adapt the configuration without redoing the whole installation.
